# Accepting Donations

Creating a link to accept donations in Trybit.

**The donation page** is a permanent Trybit payment link that lets customers or followers send a donation of any amount they choose. The user follows the link, enters an amount, and pays the invoice on a secure payment page.

Suitable for collecting donations, tips, and arbitrary payments — without development and even without your own website.

### How it differs from a regular payment link

A payment link (see [Creating Payment Links](/payments/payment-links.md)) is created for a specific amount for a specific customer and has a limited lifespan. A donation link works differently:

* the payer enters the amount themselves each time — the link isn't tied to a specific amount;
* the link is permanent and has no expiration — it can be used an unlimited number of times;
* it's created not as a one-off invoice but as a separate project — with its own page, design, and description.

### How to create a donation link

1. In your dashboard, go to the projects section.
2. Add a new project and select the "Donations" type.<br>

3. Once the project is created, a permanent, unique donation page link becomes available.

This link can be placed on your website, added to a "Support" button, posted on social media, or sent via messengers.

### Configuring the donation page

You can customize the page in the project settings — an avatar or logo, a description, and links to your resources or social media are available. Users see this information on the amount-entry page before paying.

You can also use branded payment buttons for accepting donations — examples and ready-made code are available in the [Trybit brand guide](https://brand.trybit.com/).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://support.trybit.com/payments/donation-page.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
